Preparing for your first appointment

Upon booking you will receive an intake form where you will be asked to describe your main concern(s), as well as all past injuries, surgeries, physical impacts, scars, and any history of pain that may have preceded your current concern(s).

This information is an integral part of the myoActivation process, it’s all connected!

What to bring

Please bring or wear clothing that will allow Dr. Tara to better visualize your standing posture, postural changes with movement, and access the areas requiring treatment.

For women - shorts with an elastic waistband, and a sports bra (individual shoulder straps are preferred to the racer back style), or thin strapped tank top.

For men - shorts with an elastic waistband, expect to take off your shirt.

Long hair - please bring and elastic or clip to tie your hair back.

What to expect at your first myoActivation appointment

Step 1: Initial Consultation & Intake Review

We begin by carefully reviewing your intake form, medical history, and physical symptoms. You’ll have the opportunity to ask any questions before we proceed with your myofascial assessment.

Step 2: myoActivation® Assessment

The assessment phase includes:

  • Static postural analysis

  • Dynamic movement testing to assess baseline mobility and identify pain-provoking movements

  • Palpation (hands-on tissue evaluation) of targeted soft tissue areas

These tests allow us to pinpoint dysfunctional fascia or muscle patterns contributing to your chronic pain, mobility issues, or postural imbalances.

Step 3: Targeted myoActivation Treatment

Once problem areas are identified, Dr. Tara will begin treatment using precise dry-needling techniques to release dysfunctional myofascial tissues.

After each release, we will:

  • Re-test your movement patterns

  • Assess changes in range of motion or pain

  • Determine the next area to treat

This test-treat cycle is a core feature of myoActivation® therapy, helping us unravel the layers of anatomical distortion contributing to your discomfort.

Step 4: Post-Treatment Reassessment

Following treatment, we will re-evaluate your:

  • Range of motion

  • Pain levels

  • Functional movement

Many patients in report immediate relief or improvement after their first session.

Step 5: Aftercare Guidance

At the end of your appointment, we will:

  • Discuss what to expect in the coming days

  • Provide an aftercare handout with practical recovery tips

  • Recommend follow-up appointment timing based on your treatment response

Our goal is to help you experience lasting change through myoActivation® —improving the way you move and feel.
